The 3.97mm is a 4K lens designed for the GoPro® Hero® 4/3+/3, DJI Phantom 4/3, DJI Inspire X3 and Yuneec Typhoon H CGO3+ camera lines. The 3.97mm lens does not work in the GoPro® Hero® 7/6/5 cameras. With its 82 degree HFOV 16MP sharp 8 glass non-fisheye optics this lens captures the entire image sensor.
After removing the stock lens the 3.97mm threads in easily. No need to change to a different lens mount and all GoPro®, DJI and Yuneec accessories that mount around the lens surround are supported. No gap is present between the lens and the black GoPro® lens surround as the 3.97mm lens spans the entire cavity. On the DJI cameras a small gap will be created as the lens is not as large in diameter as the stock lens, so we recommend using the original glass lens protector to keep debris out. On the Yuneec CGO3+ camera the stock lens is the same diameter so no gap or modifications to the lens surround is required with the 3.97mm lens installed.
On the GoPro® Hero, we recommend using an ND4 filter (or higher) with ISO400 for full sun shooting. On the Yuneec Typhoon H we recommend keeping shutter speeds at 1/500s or slower to reduce jello from the rolling shutter during full sun shooting. If the slower shutter speeds are too bright you can add ND filters to stop down the light.
No fisheye/barrel distortion means objects are naturally straight and just as your eyes see the world. Mounting to a UAV? You'll be glad to know that's exactly where we mounted this lens the most as we were tweaking its production. See the videos below for examples mounted to the 3DR SOLO.
With the same f-stop as the stock lens on the GoPro®, DJI and Yuneec cameras the capture software will never know the lens has been changed. Light levels will be handled as normal and depth of field will be very similar.
With it being over 40 degrees narrower than the stock GoPro® 4/3+/3 lens, 8 degrees narrower than the DJI Inspire X3 and Phantom 4/3 cameras and 16 degrees narrower than the Yuneec H CGO3+ camera, this lens brings your subjects closer without being too zoomed in to introduce unwanted image jitter. Available in a large selection of filters the 3.97mm can capture everything from beautiful RGB color to NDVI plant health images.
If you've thought of changing the lens on your camera but were never happy with the way the lenses on the market handled lens flare, you'll be glad to know that was a major concern of ours during development. We went through many iterations to reduce any "bad", concentrated flare spots and left only minimal cinematic flare. See the "Sunset at Scripps Pier" video below for an example.
When you change the lens on the GoPro® HERO® 5/4 cameras we recommend having us remove the stock lens profile software so the colors are natural (and not tinted pink around the edges). All GoPro example media shown has this lens profile removed from the camera. Don't want to worry about sending your GoPro® HERO® 4/3+/3 camera in to be modified? We sell new cameras with this lens installed HERE. -

Filter Type Description Visible Light RGB Filter (Recommended)
This is the filter that most cameras have to capture Visible Light like our eyes see. All infrared (IR) light is blocked so the colors are normal. This is the same filter the stock camera has. Red Light Filter
This lens only sees a narrow band of Red Light around 650nm and is typically used with an Infrared Light filter camera to produce NDVI, ENDVI or similar agricultural health survey maps. Green Light Filter
This lens only sees a narrow band of Green Light around 548nm and is typically used with an Infrared and Red Light filter camera to produce ENDVI or similar agricultural health survey maps. Blue Light Filter
This lens only sees a narrow band of Blue Light around 450nm and is used for various applications. No Filter
This lens option does not have a filter installed, which means you will capture all the wavelengths of light from about 400-1000nm. This means that you are capturing RGB + NIR. It will look similar to a RGB image but overly pink and colors will be dulled/muted. -
